Too Good To Pass Up At The Top Of The Week!

I’m writing this after watching a terrific game of Monday Night Football and while Life & Rhymes: Kanye West (which I’ve already watched at least five times) is playing in the background. Not to mention, I have Weeds and Californication coming up. This is not far from being an ideal night for me…

Anyway, it’s only Monday and I’ve already come across a handful of some of the best posts that I have read in awhile.

First, there’s the essentials:

Eric Enge Interviews Google’s Matt Cutts - Matt may ~~not give us a solid answer~~ neither confirm nor deny some issues, but there’s a lot of good meat here, too.
Google Determining Search Authority Pages and Propagating Authority to Related Pages - Bill writes about yet another Google patent application.

Some news:

Analyst says Yahoo worth more if broken up - Interesting insight basically saying that Yahoo has its head up its ass and would be worth a lot more if they outsourced paid search, among other things.
Search Engine Marketing Firm ReachLocal Takes $55.2 Million - Even crazier is that the company has a valuation of $305 million.

From Woodstock to Social Media - Not only did this post by Kim touch on my ardent fascination with the 60s, she tied it back to social media and ended it with an innocent and defeated sentiment, yet it instilled hope.

Hi there-

You honestly believe Rae’s post was “good”? I think she fully illustrated some of the hypocrisy that exists in this industry. I don’t think that’s a good thing.

(1) Where was her indignation when someone else (another Microsoft Search Champ) labeled all SEOs as worthless shady criminals, and specifically some of her colleagues who were at those meetings?

(2) I didn’t write that headline — someone else did, though I saw the tongue-in-cheek humor in it. Frankly, I would love to see Rae or anyone else who didn’t like that headline go head-to-head with the person who actually wrote it. I’ll bring popcorn and beer.

I don’t stereotype all black-hat practitioners (for lack of a better term). Never have, but you will believe what you want to believe.

If you could not say her “rant” any better, well. Honestly, I think that is pretty sad statement about yourself.

First off Shari, funny, the only place you chose to have any “say” on this was to an “in between” - (no offense CK)… if you have something to say, here’s an idea… bring it to the source or do it on your own forum… not in the comments of a long forgotten post by someone else (again, no disrespect CK).

To answer your questions:

(1) I didn’t see any such thing. I don’t even know who was at search champs, aside from my buddy George. I don’t live and breathe the fame, nor do I take notes about who has achieved special distinction. I also don’t read the industry rags on a daily basis… I just happened to stumble upon it that day.

(2) Take responsibility for what you publish. I’m bad at creating headlines… graywolf helps me sometimes… I wouldn’t go tossing the pan back to him though when the heat got too hot. You published it, you go head to head over using it. That said, I don’t really care who wrote the headline… headlines are meant to summarize the thoughts of a post in a sensational way… and those pompous, better than you opinions were yours. Your content and general “I’m better than you attitude” and opinions on “blackhats” are what I took offense to.

Bring it Shari… if you have something to say to me or my “sadness”, come and bring it. rae@sugarrae.com is my IM and email. Wish I had something more clever to say here, but I think I may be losing my touch… or the booze is really starting to affect the brain…
