Thanks for stopping by, Anna. As you can see from the other comments, it seems like others agree with me.

However, I will say that your effort is interesting and I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Kid Disco,
Thanks for mentioning the No More Landing Pages movement in your blog. Although I don't think the protest was that anti-climactic! :) And of course, it was self-serving from the perspective that we organized it, but it was meant to generate buzz and get people talking, which it did.

We started No More Landing Pages because:

1. As users, we think landing pages don't provide a good user experience, or a good interaction with a company's brand.
2. As marketers who have done a ton of landing pages for clients, we've seen much, much better results with alternatives such as conversion paths.

So, yes this is a campaign against the one-size fits all landing page that tries to be all things to all people. The too-often used landing page is one of the reasons that the cost of the click is going up, but industry conversion rates are stagnate - stuck in the low single digits. We hope to stimulate conversation about ways marketers can rethink where they send people to after they click on an ad, and in doing so, help the industry increase conversion rates and provide better online experiences to their respondents.

OK, a long winded answer....

Looks like a marketing ploy from an internet marketing company (ion interactive) and not an actual attempt to rid the net of landing pages. The 'about us' on that site takes you to their site.

While I just skimmed the site as well, I too think they have things a bit mixed up. Every page on a website is essentially a landing page. While, as a designer and webmaster, I hate those 1 page pre-fab landing pages selling ebooks, they do work to convert sales. With a product that may have a low attention span, it provides lots of information and content quickly to the potential buyer.
