Great… Is This What It’s Come To?

I was performing some searches on Google when I came upon this search result:

Google: red bull headquarters

(Check out the first listing, if you haven’t, yet.) When I clicked on the “More sources” link, this is what I got:

Google: red bull headquarters (more)

The first link is the same as the original OneBox listing from the previous page (1st screenshot). So, it looks like Mahalo now joins Wikipedia and Answers.com for Google Onebox answers?

yuck, blowtastic? I just hearing the whines of jealous seo’s myself. anyone else?

    (I work at mahalo btw)

The inclusion is nice, in many cases we’ve tracked down data just like this that was incorrect on wikipedia. In any case, more options for something like this is better for the user. We don’t mind being one of them. :)

So when I first went to Hawaii and thought mahalo meant ‘trash’ (long story) I guess I wasn’t too far off.

Did no one else think to ask why CK was Googling “red bull headquarters?!”

    ;)

PS: If my avatar shows up as being Rand again, let it be known that I’M ACTUALLY JANE!

@Rand - I mean Jane - :P Actually, Red Bull is a client of one of my clients and it was a tweet by @factive that led me to perform the search…

You know, I think you can add additional authors to the SEOmoz MyBlogLog Community so that your pic will show up… Not sure, tho…

sean percival, you don’t represent your company very well. In fact, and judging by your grammar errors, I think you just proved that Mahalo doesn’t hire people qualified to determine quality (which is a bigger deal than I expect you to understand personally). You’d think someone representing a company who achieved such a high accomplishment (which, even though it’s bullshit, that’s what this is) would show a little class but I guess that’s to be expected with calacanis running the company. Have fun while it lasts!

We are taking fact checking seriously. You will see that all facts in Guide Notes will have citations over the next couple of months. I just blogged about this:

thanks for pointing this out, we had no idea.

    all the best,

I have been seeing a lot of bad Google results as of late. Especially with answers that are pay only. You must pay $10 to find out how to perform an Excel formula or fix your car’s engine. This is good for the answer person but very bad for the Googler.

But all in all for the group shouldn’t the official website of “Red Bull” show up first for any relevant searches that are directed to the subject matter in the query? Just my 2 cents. Mahalo’s cool and all but why would I want to read Mahalo data when I can get it from Red Bull itself? Or a Google Local listing showing me where it’s at?
