Jason Calacanis: You Got Served by Princess Neil Patel
It has been a bit over a month since our beloved SEO and Social Media Maven, Neil Patel, issued an open challenge to Jason Calacanis in response to an unsubstantiated rant about how SEO is bullshit.
Neil answered back:
So to you Jason, I offer the following challenge: I can take your blog and increase your daily search traffic by a minimum of 10 to 20% after 30 days of putting my changes into effect. I will NOT be doing anything “shady” or unethical and will even point out all the changes that will be made to your blog. You can even have your own designer/programmer make the changes to your blog; I will even layout everything for them using step-by-step instructions.
…
If you win, I can post about the fact that SEO is really an over-rated science and actually have proof to back it up. If I win, you post that SEO is awesome, and again with the proof to back it up.
Today, Neil posted an update which includes screenshots of Google Analytics showing a 21.14% increase from search traffic. Not to mention that this was accomplished with only 10% of the recommended changes being implemented!
When all the recommendations are completed, Neil predicts a 50% increase in traffic!
When I asked Neil what motivated him to bring on this challenge, he responded:
My motivation for the challenge was to show Jason that SEO is not bullshit and that most SEO’s are not snake oil salesman. I am not sure if the challenge proved that point, but hopefully it changed Jason’s perspective.
Hopefully, Mr. Calacanis will man up…
Check it,

Jason Calcanis needed this. He should just admit that he could not do SEO and not whine about it in a public display. Good job at beating him Neil.
