Road Trip Arbiter keeps track of spending for a group of people of any size during a trip. I would buy an iPhone tomorrow if it had directional navigation GPS.
My reading of the GPS threads tells me that the iPhone\’s GPS is seriously lacking in consistency, and Apple has made any developer applications involving directional guidance a no-no. Firmware 2.1 was rumored to bring directional guidance from Apple, but they did not do that. Tom-Tom is rumored to have something, but they say it doesn\’t include directional guidance to stay inside Apple\’s guide-lines.

@Ferg - The Yelp app was a must have, as we used it to find good local food wherever we happened to be. We also used Brightkite to keep track of where we went. Other useful apps for the road trip were The Weather Channel and Gasbag. All of these are free... Hope this helps!

My cousin and I are taking a road trip starting in January and I’ve been looking for some iPhone apps as well. I’ve found a few apps that seem like their going to be useful but I was wondering if you had found any apps that you would reccomend?

iPhone is one of the most promising gadgets today. That’s the reason why there are so many iPhone applications available anywhere. More online stores give big discounts too! What I like most are games and music applications. It’s too hard to name everything.
