Sweet New FireFox Extension For Quick & Easy Domain Lookups
It seems like there’s been more and more talk about domaining going on around the SEO-sphere, lately. I know that I’ve been buying more and more domains, in recent months.
My UK buddy, Richard Kershaw, just emailed me about a new FireFox extension that he created called Domain Lookup. It a really sweet tool for those instances where you may be reading something online and you find certain text that you think might be a good domain name to pick up. This tool allows you to quickly find out if that domain is available by highlighting the text on a page and hitting a keyboard shortcut (or right-click and select). You are able to select the registrar of your choice, among other things, in the options.
If you are into domaining, interested in getting into it, or buy domains at all… you should check out this tool. You can find images and more details at Richard’s blog.
Check it!

Great find. It’s the little extensions like this that make Firefox such a joy to use, and IE near-redundant.

is this tool safe? Do I risk to see the wanted domain registered in a couple of minutes?
March 30 2008 @ 8:21 am
@Mark – I believe the tool is safe. I know Richard personally, plus they have a solid Privacy & Legal statement: http://www.qualitynonsense.com.....ion/#legal

Mark, you have my word that the tool does not log domain searches. Your domain data is only used to trigger a lookup at your domain registrar. Of course, I cannot be held responsible if your registrar starts misbehaving.
As Kid Disco mentions, the privacy policy spells out in more detail what the tool does and doesn’t do. Please feel free to contact me directly if you’ve any specific concerns.

That is great. I asked because there was a case where some big registrar was automatically registering the domains researched.
thanks

Great idea for a Firefox plugin. I was wondering if there is a similar plugin. Now I will need more RAM for sure.
