Anybody NOT going to PubCon Las Vegas 2006?

Well… it looks like DazzlinDonna, Danny, Aaron, Matt, Johnon, Lee, Rand, Jeff, and Jane, are all going…

The sessions appear to be jam packed with notable SEOs and I don’t know if there has ever been a better set of keynote speakers for our industry…

Unfortunately, I think I’m going to sit this one out… :(

I’ve been taking a lot of extended weekends and doing some personal traveling, so I feel like I’m kind of burned-out. Extra hours at work to catch up from days off, late nights hammering away on my own projects, packing, flying, unpacking, packing, driving, unpacking… it’s all taking a toll on me.

Not to mention the holidays coming up and more traveling, out of town visitors, gatherings, and outings to be had…

There’s no way that I’ll be able to go to PubCon and get everything else done that I need to get done, so I’m gonna have to resist the lure of Vegas and all my search friends and focus on my tasks at hand instead.

I’m kinda getting sad as I write this… But I know it’s what I need to do… :P

Anyway, I know everybody will have a great time and I’m sure there will be some great stories that may rival my drunk-disco-dialing-business-cards escapade in San Jose…

Lates!

Hey, whatever happened to “What happens at SES, STAYS at SES”? ;) I won’t be at this one either but I’m sure the rest of the AA gang will come back with tons of great stories!

Heya there. I’m SOOOOOOOOOO BUMMED that you’re not going to be at PubCon, but I understand :(

Guess I’ll have to drag Adam around from blackjack table to blackjack table! :)

We still need to plan dinner, lol

Not going… Not going to the Affiliate Summit either.

New boss who either doesn’t see the value of these events or needs to get to know me better or both. It feels like getting a pay cut.

You have to go to Pubcon, it is one of the best conferences because it is in Vegas. I’ll see you there. ;)

Damn… you guys aren’t making it any easier! :P

Hawaii – That is a crock… if you fly me out there, I will knock some sense into your boss for ya! :P

Neil – Slim chance, but it wouldn’t be completely out of the picture for me to hop in my car and drive out there for a night…

I wouldn’t be out of the picture for me to hop on a plane and go anyway.

I might go to Vegas because I get free airfare, but I won’t have a conference pass.

At SES in San Jose… I told several friends to “Just show up” walk around halls and hang out in the hotel bar. (Lurk)

At SES in San Jose and especially SES Chicago (because it’s freezing), people would likely gather or stay near the main conference hotel.

I only went to about half the sessions myself anyway. I saw some of the biggest names in SEO just lurking in the hallways chatting with people. For me, most of the benefit of going is the personal interactions. (Priceless)

However… I’m not as confident about this strategy working so well with Vegas. After the sessions, people seem likely to scatter out onto the strip or busy themselves at the blackjack tables. So… I’m not sure if it’s worth it or not.
